APPLICATION FOR Marty Zewick Artist Award
Award utilization plan
I am engaging the public in a campaign to gather and create in mass even if we are distanced while doing so.
Partnering with libraries, local businesses, nonprofits, and individuals we will document communities in abstract map form.
We're in ongoing discussions with the Sherman Public Library and Treasured Vessels Foundation in Texas and have reached out as far as the folks with The June in Ontario, Canada. Ideally this will cover the map...in time.
This award will fund the proposals to various communities to gather and create artwork together to support those who need it most in the community as defined by the community. Community support is important.
WHY IS COMMUNITY SUPPORT IMPORTANT
I don't have family support from 'my side' of the tree...by choice. To end the generational trauma that occurred in our household, I had to leave behind the only support system I knew.
The challenges I have faced are more common than most would like to know.
An abusive person's actions were swept under the rug and life went on.
A child with talent and promise was locked inside a puzzle that made no sense.
After I turned 30 art drew me in and unlocked something within. As I began to understand the puzzle and dismantle it, the most beautiful energy was revealed and I want to do everything in my power to give that opportunity to heal and thrive to others.
