Abstract expressionist painting fights against human trafficking

Abstract artworks typically rely on conveying the imagination of the artist and an impressionist work shows a unique perspective on objects or ideas. Combining the two has opened new doors of exploration and connection with new materials, people, ideas, and emotions.

Brushstrokes have taken on a new meaning as brushes consist of a number of everyday objects used to achieve new patterns and textures. Layers of color, light, darkness are combined and removed to build and reveal a story. This piece, Source of Love was created for the Treasured Vessels Foundation and their Meet the Artist fundraiser.

Experiencing emotion is a complicated venture especially for one who is most comfortable empathizing through others. Works created recently explore and lean into the feelings of discomfort that we as a society aim to eliminate. It brings to mind questions of comfort, comfort zones, and confronting those norms.

Anger for example is one emotion many try to suppress rather than dig into. The different messages around anger discourage it in general for some and do not address it at all for others. It nonetheless exists in abundance and much of it is understandable. Anger can be a source of great energy when observed, identified, accepted, understood and released in healthy expression.

Krystal Skinner is a female abstract expressionist artist exploring emotion, discomfort, and society through her work. Observing self and the urge to pour out energy has helped to identify the path of this abstract painter. The confidence in the vision of the path leading toward understanding is astounding, so she follows in faith that insight comes. This insight is meant to be shared; through the revelations that come with the impressions left on empty canvas.

She is connecting to that inner anger and channeling it through Meet The Artist and Treasured Vessels Foundation to raise funds devoted to providing a long-term safe place for healing and growth to individuals impacted by trauma from exploitation in sex trafficking.

What is prophetic artwork with incredible materials?

The blessings were all around me...literally. The school supplies that granny and nana had provided over the years were staring me in the face. So, melting crayons with my hair dryer on canvas was my initial artistic endeavor. The next material I had on hand was my collection of dried out felt tip markers that I supplemented with a  purchase at a creative reuse store that was in Denton prior to 2020 called SCRAP! SCRAP Creative Reuse - Home

I look for materials in a variety of ways; all of them Spirit inspired and in the beginning it was difficult to know where inspiration came from. It came in moments like when cleaning up hair dye in vibrant colors I noticed how much water was required to remove all of the pigment. While I absolutely love gorgeous hair, the waste in water and of product left in the tube was an inspiration for reusing every last drop. This resulted in a line of liquid watercolors in the most interesting shades.

In my pursuit to grow I set my intention on finding the path YHWH had intended all along. I was afraid and hurt due to past trauma that led me to doubt my value and security. It was revealed that my mission is to shine brightly and encourage others to do the same. I think that its true for ALL; we are intended to thrive. In my life it was claiming the authority to call myself a prophetic artist. This spark led me to the Created To Thrive mentoring program for my artwork and business, creating this site, and selling my first BIG original piece within the first 3 months. I never expected to feel grateful for suffering; now it fuels the fire within to create with the Spirit using unlikely materials.

I receive absolutely nothing for sharing my experience with any of these resources; thet have simply had an impact on my journey.
