As an artist traveling and sharing my work, I'm often asked...where is Sherman? Having moved here during the pandemic, getting to know people has been an adventure.
To learn and grow from my new community, I’m working to bring us together to create a large-scale abstract map of Sherman, TX.
We will be gathering supplies from the community during at the Sherman Public Library to repurpose for this project. Rich pigments will be harvested from dried out felt tip markers, beauty supplies, and empty containers will become the 'brushes'.
There is a way for everyone to participate in this project!
Follow us on Facebook to see how they will be transformed into the materials for our community creation.
We will come together at the Sherman Public Library to create different layers throughout 2022. A schedule will be posted on social media and on this page once mailed down. The resulting piece will be offered for auction to benefit the children's charities of Grayson County.
If you are interested in donating items here are our needs:
-Any kind of felt tip markers - dried out is fine; permanent markers too
-leftover household paint
-Spray bottles (cleaning products)

Personal community moment
I don't have family support from 'my side' of the tree...by choice. To end the generational trauma experienced in my household, I had to leave behind the only support system I knew. Now I strive to build a healthy community around my family.
The challenges I faced are more common than most would like to know; it's uncomfortable and hard to share.
After I turned 30 art drew me in and unlocked something that had been inside all along. As I began to understand the puzzle of my own mind and dismantle it, the most beautiful energy was revealed and I want to do everything in my power to give the same opportunity to heal and thrive to others through creating together.
